Perry – Heirloom Series
A rare drink from a secret orchard, Sea Cider’s Perry was inspired by the discovery of a Perry orchard several years ago near our farm on Vancouver Island. A few dozen fifty-foot perry pear trees planted nearly a century ago still stand majestically and are the backbone of Sea Cider’s Perry. An exquisitely dry sparkler, our Perry is crafted in the classic English style with a nod to Vancouver Island’s pioneering roots. Raise a glass of Sea Cider to the perry of our past!

The story
Perry is a rare drink originating in northern France and Britain and traditionally crafted from inedible “perry” pears grown solely to produce Perry. Sea Cider’s Perry was inspired by the discovery of a Perry Orchard several years ago near our farm on the Saanich Peninsula. A few dozen fifty-foot perry pear trees planted nearly a century ago still stand majestically and are all that remain on what was once acres of rural orchard farmland. An orchard that produces biennially, Sea Cider picks these inedible perry pears every other year to produce small batches of perry in the traditional Herefordshire style. Fermented with champagne yeast, the hard tannins of the perry pears are tamed with the addition of other pear varietals from our leased orchard in the Similkameen Valley to produce this delicately nuanced drink.
