SALES & MARKETING PRODUCT SPECIALIST

We are seeking a Sales & Marketing star to join our team! This is a full-time, year round, permanent position with competitive pay and many perks. Sea Cider is a family-owned, farm-based business near Victoria, BC that produces award-winning cider. The Sales & Marketing Product Specialist is a key member of our Sales & Marketing Team, reports directly to the General Manager, and is responsible for achieving revenue targets for our Direct to Consumer product sales as well as marketing that drives product revenue across all our sales channels.

Job Description:

Focus of Accountability

Working in a collaborative environment, the Sales & Marketing Product Specialist is a key member of Sea Cider’s Sales & Marketing Team, responsible for “direct to consumer” sales work plus marketing that drives product-related revenue. Performance is assessed against revenue and other measurable targets.

Duties

Product Sales

Primary sales responsibilities are focused on “direct to consumer” sales channels. This includes leading our Cider Club program, our online store, and ensuring we are carrying products that propel Picnic Pantry revenue in the Ciderhouse. Other sales responsibilities include supporting our Cider Sales Specialists in ways that grow revenue via farmers markets and wholesales. In addition, as a part of the sales team, this position provides input into experience-related sales initiatives.

Product Marketing

Marketing responsibilities are comprehensive and include the following:

Digital Marketing:

  • Ensures that all online communications reinforce our brand
  • Manages social media, creating and scheduling posts for all social media channels
  • Responds to online inquiries and reviews
  • Manages website, updating content, creating blogs regarding our products and farm, and working with contractors to evolve our website design and improve our online store
  • Manages email marketing and newsletters, creating content and managing distribution lists

Multi-media Content:

  • Manages content in our multimedia library of photographs and videos; creates new content

Marketing Collateral:

  • Creates/updates text, graphics, layout and artwork for sales sheets, labels, brochures, signage, shelf talkers, neck tags, print ads, etc
  • Designs, sources and maintains inventory of marketing merchandise

Media and Public Relations:

  • Writes and distributes press releases
  • Acts as a media contact
  • Acts as a Brand Ambassador by attending and/or conducting tastings at off-site events

Strategic and Tactical Planning:

  • Assists management with developing and executing strategic and annual sales & marketing plans
  • Informs management of marketplace trends. Keeps up to date with industry trends and updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading trade publications
  • Collaborates with colleagues to plan marketing around new products

Project and Performance Management:

  • Leads the development and execution of marketing initiatives intended to spur product sales across all our revenue streams
  • Manages timelines and budgets for marketing projects
  • Tracks project progress, expenditures and results
  • Tracks marketing data and KPIs

Relationship Management:

  • Liaises with industry associations, other “stakeholder” businesses plus non-profit organizations we support. Initiates/responds to collaboration opportunities as well as inquiries regarding paid ads, promo product and sponsorship

Requirements

This position requires a highly creative and organized multi-tasker with exceptional communication skills. The successful candidate has an impressive track record in sales and marketing who is excited by the opportunity to work for a community-minded, family-owned, growth-oriented, farm-based business. In addition, the position requires:

  • Education: Post secondary degree and/or diploma/certification in marketing or communications or similar
  • Vocational experience in both sales and marketing, with a strong background in product sales and digital marketing
  • Demonstrated skills in photography, and a willingness to learn basic videography
  • Sector experience: consumer products, beverage industry preferred
  • Software experience: a strong aptitude for computer-based applications and a desire to learn new programs and skills (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp, Later)
  • Communication skills, both written and oral: exceptional
  • Stakeholder relationships: a proven ability to build and maintain positive and effective internal and external relationships. A willingness to learn and implement best practices in team building and team communications
  • Personal aptitude: a high degree of professionalism, initiative and personal accountability for meeting company goals. Excellent time management and coordination skills. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The ability to work well under pressure and a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done. Curiosity, great listening skills and an openness to feedback.
  • Work week flexibility: Able to work a Monday to Friday “8:30 to 4:30” work week, but willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business. Ability to work on site at least two weekdays per week.
  • The ability to carry heavy cases of cider on occasion
  • A desire to work for a business that is growing and seeking to continually improve
