Sales Associate (Lower Mainland Markets)

Our Sales Associates who work at artisan markets in Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland are responsible for selling Sea Cider products at farmers markets, holiday markets and other local craft markets. The work is part time (Saturdays or Sundays, and occasional weekday evening), year round, and involves picking up supplies from our Vancouver Storage Locker on Marine Drive, setting up and taking down our market stall before and after each market, serving samples, explaining our ciders to market goers, processing payments, keeping track of bottles poured and cash received, and acting as a Sea Cider brand ambassador. Comprehensive training is provided, including training in sales and of course cider!

About You

This position is suited to someone new to sales who is keen to work for a community-minded, local farming business.  It requires a positive self-starter who loves people and the atmosphere of local markets. Others describe you as conscientious with a keen desire to learn.  In addition you have:

  • Education: High school diploma – required.   Serving It Right and Food Safe certification – required. Some post secondary education – preferred.
  • Vocation experience: experience in sales – preferred.
  • Industry experience: food & beverage, retail or hospitality experience – preferred.
  • Communication skills: strong. Social media marketing experience – an asset.
  • Equipment: Experience using point of sale systems – preferred – and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Personal aptitude: a high degree of professionalism, organizational skills, and personal accountability for achieving targets. Curiosity, great listening skills and an openness to feedback. A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done.
  • Work week flexibility: A willingness to work one to two markets per week, year round.
  • A valid driver’s licence and a road worthy vehicle which can securely store/transport cases of cider and market equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy cases of cider frequently through the day, set up market equipment (10 x 10 tent, folding table, etc) and work on your feet standing up for hours at a time outside, rain or shine.
  • COVID vaccination: up-to-date full vaccination – required.
  • A desire to work for a business that is seeking to continually improve.

Compensation: Wage + commission + 4% vacation pay, for a total gross target compensation of $25 per hour

FTE: One to two markets per week (approximately 8 hours per shift)

Schedule: Day time Saturdays or Sundays, occasional weekday evening
