Production Assistant

We are seeking a Production Assistant to join our team!

The Job

Production Assistants work mainly on Sea Cider’s packaging line. They bottle, cap, pasteurize, label, case, palletize, forklift and warehouse finished goods. They also work occasionally on the Farm Team, for example, helping with picking and pressing apples during harvest season. Health & safety and product quality are always the top priorities.

About You

This position is suited to someone new to manufacturing or the brewing/winemaking/cidermaking beverage industry that is keen to grow their skills and experience.  It requires a hands-on problem solver who loves physical labour and pitching in to help colleagues. Others describe you as a conscientious individual who has a positive outlook and a keen desire to learn.  In addition, the position requires:

  • Education:  High school diploma – required
  • Industry experience:  Experience in manufacturing – preferred
  • Vocational experience:  Experience with power tools is an asset
  • Communication skills:  Good
  • Personal aptitude:  A high degree of initiative and personal accountability for completing work assigned. A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done. Curiosity, great listening skills and an openness to feedback. 
  • Work week flexibility: Able to work day shifts Monday to Friday, but willing to occasionally work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business
  • The physical strength to safely lift and carry 25 kg bags of ingredients and cases of  cider frequently throughout the day, the physical stamina to work on your feet for hours at a time and operate manufacturing equipment while standing all day.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • The ability to operate or learn how to operate a forklift and other production equipment
  • A desire to work for a business that is growing and seeking to continually improve

Compensation: $17.45 per hour + 4% vacation pay

Schedule: 

  • Full time: four or five day work weeks, year round. Eg. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm or Tuesday to Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm
  • Part time: one to four shifts per week.
