On the Farm: The Lady Beetles Are Here!

We have some welcome visitors! IMG_2252

It’s winter pruning time and we’re busy out in the orchard tending to the trees. This year we’ve happily come across a lot of Ladybugs setting up shop for the spring. Did you know they are the natural enemies of many pests, especially aphids and other sap feeders? A single lady beetle may eat as many as 5,000 aphids in its lifetime!

We love to see these natural predators doing work that is now commonly done by chemical sprays. Insecticides don’t know how to leave the good insects alone!
